About Santa Sundarason
Founder of The Giving Tree Unionville
Once upon a time a little girl was born in a land for away, to a British mother and a Sri Lankan father, on an island called Singapore.
Her journey in life took her across the waters to various lands. After years in the UK, the USA and Singapore she was
transported to the fabulous City of Unionville. A beautiful heritage village in the middle of Markham.
She had no idea what life would have in store for her.
She had no idea that she would begin her life here in Canada seeking justice and a better quality of life for so many.
Shanta's Story
Behind the Words
Growing up, I always desired to help give back in some way but I was never truly awarded the opportunities to help make a real difference. Life got in the way. A career, children and then another chapter.
Moving to Canada. It took a good two years for me to settle into my new homeland and there were times that I was all too ready to call it quits and leave. But then I had a flash of inspiration and the opportunity to get stuck in and help make a difference in the lives of the kids around me and myself. It all started with my eagerness to learn and understand more about Canada and its true history.
The shock of what I was confronted with was what really kick started my journey into seeking justice. Creating awareness. Helping to educate and empower each other to effect solutions. Understanding that our children will be tomorrows leaders has been an important part of my vision and mission. Empowering them with the necessary tools to help effect positive change for a better quality of life for all is something I see happen every day.
I am drawn to lead by example.
